Daily Challenge Recap
The Kitty Saves the Call
Your first six cards look like a hand you would pass on. The call is forced, and the kitty decides how it ends.
The hand
You start with the Ace and 10 of hearts, the 6 of diamonds, the King and 10 of clubs, and the 10 of spades. That is a pile of tens and one Ace. The game scores this call very low. Hearts is the call anyway, because you hold the Ace and the 10 and nothing else is better.
The kitty is a rescue. It brings the Jack of hearts, the top trump, plus the 7 of hearts and the Ace of diamonds.
The line that wins
The hard AI, playing all four seats with the cards face up, won five of nine tricks and finished 104 to 58.
Tricks 1 and 2: lose one, win one
Opponent 1 leads the Ace of clubs, and you give up the King. Then your 10 of clubs wins the next trick, 12 points.
Trick 3: the Jack of hearts
Lead the Jack. It wins 24 points. Then lead the Ace of diamonds for 21 more. Two leads put you well in front.
Trick 9: the Ace of hearts to finish
Your last card is the Ace of trump. It wins the final trick, 28 points with the bonus.
Where it's easy to go wrong
Clubs loses 54 to 108. Diamonds, on a lone 6, wins 92 to 70, and spades wins 101 to 61 on a single spade. Those two win only because of where the other cards sit, not because of the hand you were dealt.
The takeaway
You call before you see the kitty, so you are betting on cards that are still face down. Hold the Ace and the 10 of a suit and you have something to build on. Read bait and half-bait to see what a lost call costs.
